Held every Sunday (September - June) between services.
The Dorcas Society, organized in 1924, has been serving St. John in countless ways. Our fundraisers include a pork dinner, various baked food sales and a flower sale. Our greatest mission is providing funeral receptions and luncheons for our church members. Besides supporting our church, we also support charities in our community and beyond. All women are welcome to join us the 2nd Monday of each month for devotions, business meeting, and a social hour.
Stephen Ministers provide one-to-one care to people going through a crisis or difficult time. They meet with that person on an ongoing basis offering confidential, Christ-centered support to those who are hurting.
"Here I Am to Worship" - Praise Team leads the music for second service most Sundays. Presently voices and guitars share their praises, but many other instruments and voices are encouraged to join. Practice is on Thursday evenings at 7:00 PM in the sanctuary.
"To God We Sing" - Please come join others at St. John's in sharing your gift and talent with us in the Adult Choir. It doesn't matter if you've sung in a choir for many years or never have sung in a choir before. We rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 6:45-8:15 PM. No prior experience is needed, just a willingness to learn. The choir sings at least once a month and also for special services. Please join us in the church balcony. Won't you come as we sing joyful songs to God!
"Lord, I Lift Your Name on High" - Ladies Ensemble leads the music for the second service once a month. Through their voices and keyboard, we share our praises, practicing the Saturday before we sing at 11:00 AM in the sanctuary. New faces are always welcome to join us.
The Worship Committee continues to meet each month to assist Pastor Bode in planning the worship services for St. John. We continue to be “antennae”, listening for the good, but also addressing the things that need our attention. We also suggest the hymns for first service. Always looking for readers and using the congregation's gifts throughout the services.
"Ring Praises to the Lord" - The handbells and chimes have been used in many ways for over 25 years at St. John. Presently, they are rung once a month, as well as for practice on Tuesday evenings from 6:45-8:00 PM. New "ringers" are always welcome to join us (not a lot of musical ability is needed, just a commitment to lots of practice). There are many interesting techniques, like the singing bell and the bell trees, that we try to incorporate. Come and ring!
Youth is a unique period of life, one filled with exploration, discovery, excitement and fulfillment. The Church Youth Ministry provides a nurturing, loving environment for young people exploring the world. It is a safe place where faith guides exploration and self-discovery.
The Gospel has a message for everyone, of every age, and in every language. Exposing your child to the Lord's path when they are young gives them guidance, hope and strength that lasts a lifetime. To learn more, be in touch with our Pastor.
